Lorenda Starfelt

Mom. Wife. Filmmaker. Dog lover. Happy. What else is there?

Lorenda Starfelt, my wife and artistic companion for almost 16 years, died of cancer on March 16, 2011 at approximately 7:50 PM. We were about to embark on a new feature film – a musical film – based on a story/treatment she had penned earlier in the year. The film, entitled Beginning Blue, is in pre-production as I write this.

Lorenda was one of the most enthusiastic and energetic individuals I’ve ever known, and I am infinitely better for having known her. This site is intended not simply as a tribute to her memory, but also as a checkpoint for her past, present and ongoing creative projects. Welcome.

She was a great member of the Corrente Wire community.

Repeat As Often As Needed: They Aren’t Journalists, They’re Opinionists. Posted by olvlzl

In the spirit of ditching frauds, it’s time for us all to stop calling the large majority of our media “journalists”. That word should never be applied to Chris Matthews, Tim Russert, anyone on the cabloids or those who phone in “editorials, analysis, opinion, a-says-b-says pieces, etc.” They aren’t dealing in supported facts, their work doesn’t support the truth. They are opinionists, that’s the polite way of putting it. I know that calling them something else is closer to the truth, but we need something they can say on TV. Not that they will. As one person said to me, “What about all those polls over the past year that said Clinton had it sewn up? What happened to that “fact”?”

What Hillary said

Avedon Carol

You all know how much I don’t love Hillary, but this is sexist bollocks from Paul Waldman. Let’s remember exactly what Hillary was saying when she choked up, shall we? She was saying these words: “I have so many opportunities from this country. I just don’t want to see us fall backwards. If you can entertain that thought for a full second without feeling emotional, you’re either stupid or dead. We’re in real trouble here, and it hurts. We do not have time for this MCP crap.

Emphasis dcblogger.

Have you read Avedon Carol today?

Lots of linky goodness.

RE: sex discrimination

Just a Bump in the Beltway:

There are a pair of posts over at the Group News Blog that need to be read together:

Lower Manhattanite on Big Girls Can’t Buy and Jesse “Doc” Wendel on Concussion, a story about girls and sports. Read them together as a gloss by a couple of insightful guys on the ways that society tells women who they are and it starts very young. Both posts and the comments threads which follow are very personal and very important.

This blog consists almost entirely of links to other bloggers. Good work deserves recognition.

Happy Birthday
