Michelle Rhee is a pretentious bully

Michelle Rhee is a good talker. She has captured the imagination of journalists all over America.

However in DC she is known as a despot who pits young teachers against older ones, principals against teachers and the city council against the mayor.None of this helps the Children. She says she puts children’s interests above adult interests but she seems to be putting her interests first — getting national publicity.

I hope Vincent Gray is willing to take her on.

My understanding is that the DC schools system was about the worst around, despite good funding and lots of staff. In the business world this would be called a “turn-around” case and one would expect the boss’s action to be even more severe. Rhee needs to keep going. Consolidating schools, demanding results, firing those who won’t get on board, ensuring performance evaluations happen followed by accountability, are all necessary.

Michelle Rhee rocks. DC schools for the first time have a chance to be a school system instead of a jobs program for Marion Barry’s friends.

I really don’t understand the mentality here. DC schools are bad, that justifies any change whatsoever? It is OK to fire experienced teachers and replace them with a series of inexperienced substitute teachers who have no certification?

Does it not concern you that Rhee has NO support from parents? Surely if she was making things better, if children were learning more, parents would support her. Yet parents want Rhee gone. Does not never occur to you that Rhee could be inflicting further damage on an already troubled school system?

Reread all those news media puff pieces on Rhee, see any quotes from happy parents? No? Don’t you think there is a reason for that?

Michelle Rhee is a “left over” from the Bush regimes attempts at rampant privatization which is why it is reported, she backed McCain and panicked over the prospect of a “Democratic president”.
She is an inexperienced, arrogant pusher of corporate takeover of public schools.
Her close involvement with the scandal-ridden Saint Hope Corporation and Kevin Johnson has been overlooked by mainstream media. According to the Post, Rhee has spent most of her free time (I thought she was relentlessly pursuing better education for children in DC) helping to get Johnson elected.
Funny how media rarely reports that in addition to his corrupted behavior at Saint Hope, Johnson was accused on two separate occasions of engaging in inappropriate acts with a minor.
Rhee’s friendship with such a highly questionable character reveals a great deal about her own character.
She is much worse than a bully.
