Not so much frees the hateful as exposes them

First off, let us be clear that what we are dealing with is not ignorance, but willful stupidity. There is a wide and substantial difference between the two.

A voice cries out

Everywhere we look, ignorant individuals are standing up, finally free to spout their stupidity.

It seems that they have been freed from the shackles of convention, and are proclaiming their love of everything stupid.

Buffonish racism is perfectly respectable.

It is just that openly expressed racism in the context of this Presidential campaign is being exposed.

Do you really think their stupidity is willful?
I kind of think they might be disabled in some way.

Well, I don’t have windows into their souls, but yeah, I think it is willful stupidity. And I think Tom Friendman is as bad as anyone at a McCain Palin rally.

Wow. I just can’t seem to grasp it. I guess it makes it easier for me to think of them as having a chromosome missing.
