Cindy Sheehan for Congress

I want to like Pelosi. She is the only woman left at the top, and it is important that we have a female voice at the top. I wanted to blame Steny Hoyer and Rahm Emanuel for the failures of the Democratic Caucus. But the debate over the bail out, or should I say sell out, has made that impossible. So

Cindy Sheehan for Congress!

How stupid is Patrick “Kit” Healy?

The end of an era: Patrick “Kit” Healy simpers today about—what else?—body language. Apparently, Dowd wasn’t quite dumb enough for the Times. So they went out and bought themselves this:

HEALY (9/26/08): However forceful and passionate Mr. Obama can be, his speeches and public appearances this week have underscored how he is sometimes out of sync with the visceral anger of Americans who are losing their jobs and homes. He often talks about growing up on food stamps and about having paid off his student loans only recently, yet his tone and volume, body language, facial expressions and words convey a certain distance from the ache that many voters feel.

See there? Obama’s facial expressions “convey a certain distance from the ache that many voters feel.” He is “sometimes out of sync” with their visceral anger. Where does Healy obtain such feathered distinctions? They come to him in silly dreams!

Magnanimously, we might have skipped Healy’s blather today. Except for his very next graf, which announces the end of an era:

HEALY (continuing directly): “People want presidents who lead and relate to them—they don’t want presidents who analyze and seem above it all,” said G. Terry Madonna, a pollster and director of the Center for Politics and Public Affairs at Franklin & Marshall College in Lancaster, Pa. “Obama still comes across as dispassionate to the point of coolness. He is so comfortable in his own skin, he can be hard to connect with for people who are struggling.”

He may be too comfortable in his own skin! Truly, the end of an era!

NRA infiltrates gun safety groups

Informant Might Have Stood Among Gun Safety Activists

The day the U.S. Supreme Court struck down the D.C. gun ban, leading gun control advocates dialed into a nationwide conference call to coordinate how the movement should frame its reaction to the media.

Listening in was Mary McFate, a longtime board member of a Pennsylvania gun safety group. Although McFate had been a familiar face in gun safety circles for more than a decade, the other activists on the line were unaware that she once had a career as a corporate spy infiltrating activist groups.

I think many, if not most, liberal groups have been infiltrated. Clearly we need a strategy on how to deal with this phenomenon.

Michelle Rhee’s leadership called into quesiton by federal investigation

Earth to Dan, your educrush’s non-profit is involved in a federal probe

Michelle Rhee will give a talk to the National Press Club tomorrow and take questions. Someone in that audience needs to ask her about the investigation of St. Hope. They also need to ask her about the consent decree here in DC concerning the education of special needs children. They need to ask her why using substitute teachers is better than using full time, experienced teachers. They need to stop acting like her PR flack and start asking some questions.

Michelle Rhee sets DCPS up for failure

DC teacher shortage presents a contradiction with use of subs

It seems that there is areal fiasco in the Washington DC school system now with the homemade teacher shortage.

Chancellor Michelle Rhee had dismissed a lot of teachers (270 or more) for not making certification norms. Now, at McKinley Tech High School, as of Thursday Sept. 25, there were 91 classrooms without permanent teachers, with positions filled by substitutes.

Were it your purpose to improve public education you would never have done as Chancellor Potty Mouth has done. She knows very well she has made things worse. And when these schools cannot meet their goals under No Child Left Behind she will use that as a pretext to close them. She hates public education. She wants to destroy public education, and Fenty appointed her for that purpose. That is the only theory that fits the facts.

Question about Chancellor Potty Mouth

Charter School Successes – Looks Can Be Deceiving
There are those who would question why a chancellor of a public school system would be advocating for charter schools as opposed to working to fix our existing school system, yet this just shows us how popular the concept has become. We have to wonder, therefore, if we should believe all of the hype. Are charter schools really that successful?

According to The U.S. Department of Education, they are not.
