Would Chancellor Potty Mouth know a good teacher if she saw one?

Evidence is that she would not.

Franklin Shelter & The Fight Against Homelessness

Monday, September 8th, 2008

1112 16th Street, NW, suite 600
Wash DC 20036

After New Orleans, Washington, DC is among the highest rates of homelessness of any city in the nation. Regardless the DC city government is trying to close Franklin Shelter, by October 1st, at the beginning of hypothermia season. Last year 28 homeless people died of hypothermia or conditions related to exposure. While there is some organizing and opposing this anti-people measure, the outcry is not enough. Join SALSA for a panel discussion to explore why our area has one of the highest rates of homelessness, why people are homeless, and what you can do to support the Franklin Shelter and be involved in ending homelessness in our region.

Empower DC’S People’s Property Campaign has united District residents to save public property – schools, libraries, parks and other public spaces – for public use, not private profit. Campaign members drafted Bill 17-0527 requiring significant public input and consideration of public uses and needs when developing public property. The Bill awaits approval by the City Council.

Take Back the Land fought against gentrification by seizing public land and building a shantytown, housing over 150 otherwise homeless people. They now identify foreclosed homes and move families in- without permission from the government or the bank. Come find out how you can help save your community at this important forum.

Democratic National Convention: Katrina & President Carter

What is Chancellor Potty Mouth doing in Denver?????

Rhee in Denver: Media to Blame for Teachers’ Contract Holdup

It is the first week of school, Chancellor Potty Mouth needs to be in Washington DC, not the Democratic National Convention.

Rhee is the one holding up the contract. She needs to put the contract up on the DCPS website where it could be downloaded and studied by the membership. She won’t do that, which leads some of us to conclude it must be a pretty bad contract.

Who funds the KIPP schools?

UPDATE: The Walton family of Walmart and other right wingers fund KIPP. Media Transparency is down, Media Matters purchased the data base and will have it up and running eventually.
